Bobby Wagner Signs Five-Year Deal With Division Foe Rams

Bobby Wagner Blocks Field Goal in Seahawks' 6-6 OT Tie vs Cardinals

Longtime Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner has found a new home—and he didn’t even have to leave the division!

Wagner, 31, Thursday inked a five-year deal with the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams worth $50 million and possibly up to $65 million with incentives.

“I want to start off by saying THANK YOU to Seattle for embracing this Cali kid, with a dream of playing in the NFL,” Wagner wrote on Instagram. “Though it didn’t end in a positive way; I want to be clear, my love for Seattle will never change. Seattle is truly a place I call home & the love I’ve felt throughout the city is a feeling I will always remember.

“I’m excited for this new chapter. I’m excited to be able to come back where it all started and join the LA Rams!

“This is going to be fun for a lot of reasons.”

Wagner, who also visited with the Ravens in free agency, was released on March 8—a day that will live in franchise infamy, as the Wagner move came hours after the Seahawks traded QB Russell Wilson to the Broncos.

Wagner tallied a career-high 170 tackles this past year—his 10th consecutive 100-plus-tackle season.
