Ricky Gervais Mocks People Who Called Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Alopecia A ‘Disability’

Ricky Gervais has been continuing to share his opinion on how Will Smith should have conducted himself instead of slapping Chris Rock after the comedian called his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith “G.I. Jane 2.” Gervais spoke to fans on Twitter live and criticized people that said Rock went too far with the joke because she is bald from the condition alopecia.

“You don’t hit someone over a joke, however bad it is, and it wasn’t bad,” Gervais said at the top of the video. He said Rock’s G.I. Jane joke was “the tamest joke I would ever have told.” Gervais then added, though he didn’t specify where this came from, that, “Someone said it was joking about her disability. Well, I’m going a bit thin so I’m disabled. I can park right up next to Tesco’s now. And I’m fat, that’s a disease, isn’t it?”

Gervais is known for his multiple hosting appearances at the Golden Globe awards where he has not held back from skewering Hollywood royalty. In 2020, Gervais hosted the show and ended the night with several choice quotes. One bit, which mocked the lack of diversity in nominees, said, “Many talented people of color were snubbed in major categories. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do about that because the Hollywood Foreign Press are all very, very racist.”

Another one of Gervais’ wildest jokes of that night came when he set his sights on the 2019 adaptation of Cats. “The world got to see James Corden as a fat pussy,” Gervais began. “He was also in the movie Cats. But no one saw that.”
