Is Vetheo the best League of Legends player in Europe today?

Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié has been awarded the prestigious Most Valuable Player award in the LEC for the 2022 spring split, but is Vetheo really the best League of Legends player in Europe?

Vetheo has been a standout performer for Misfits Gaming in the LEC and has been recognized for his impressive performance as the spring split’s MVP. This is an impressive accomplishment, especially from a team that finished third in the regular split. Upstaging players from better-performing teams is no small task, and the mid laner has been able to outshine every other player in the regular split.

Is Vetheo the best player in the LEC?

The Misfits Mid Laner impressed in the LEC regular split, but has sadly fallen short of a finals performance, falling to G2 Esports in the loser’s bracket after losing to Rogue. The mercurial question of who is truly Europe’s best player has begun to include the young mid laner. It’s hard to label any one player the best player in a region during a playoffs run, but Vetheo is certainly in the running.

Vetheo isn’t quiet about his aspirations of becoming one of Europe’s franchise players and all-time great mid laners alongside such names as Luka “Perkz” Perkovic and Rasmus “caPs” Winther. He’s been vocal about his intent to be the Most Valuable Player in both of 2022’s regular splits, and he’s now halfway there. Misfits may have fallen short in the playoffs, but Vetheo is looking to make them a Worlds contender come the summer split after claiming more than a third of Misfits’ kills in the split.

Vetheo has had some truly jaw-dropping solo carry moments, which the LEC took the time to highlight in a gorgeous announcement montage for the MVP award. His team may not be hoisting the trophy, but such a stellar regular split performance certainly puts Vetheo in the discussion for standout mid laners coming into the summer split in Europe later this year. The MVP vote reflects a close race between Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov, Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong, and the Misfits player, with Hylissang being nearly neck-and-neck with split MVP Vetheo.

Vetheo isn’t yet the consensus choice as Europe’s best player, but that’s due to the sheer strength of his competition. If he’s aiming for all-time great status, he’s off to a great start.
