These are the teams that qualified for MSI 2022

The first big international League of Legends event is right around the corner. As the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational heads to South Korea next month, fans are excited to see the top League of Legends teams in the world collide at MSI 2022.

A total of 11 teams will be fighting for the MSI trophy at the highest international level. As always, it will be each region’s spring split winner that will be sent out as a representative. This includes the LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS while the usual smaller regions will look to make upsets on the international stage.

With the spring split being concluded in the different regions during these weeks, the team list for MSI is starting to build up little by little. By Sunday, April 24, all representatives will be decided and the start of the event will only be a few weeks away.

Before MSI 2022 kicks off on Tuesday, May 10, let’s take a look at all the teams that will be participating. The list will be updated as the different leagues conclude their spring playoffs.

What are the format and dates for MSI 2022?

The format at MSI will be a little different this year. Because the tournament will only hold 11 participants, Riot has made the decision to only have three groups in the first stage of the tournament. Group A will have three teams while groups B and C will have four teams.

Teams will be drawn into groups based on seeding and play a double round-robin. All matches will be best-of-one, making every match extremely important. In the end, the top two from each group will advance to stage 2. Just like the previous MSI tournament, there’s a great chance that tiebreakers will be needed to decide the teams that make it to the second stage.

In stage 2, also called the Rumble stage, the six teams will play out another double round-robin in a best-of-one format. From here, only the four best teams will be advancing to the playoffs stage, consisting of a single-elimination bracket. As always, the playoffs stage will be best-of-five matches.

The journey for the MSI 2022 trophy and the biggest cut of the $250,000 prize pool starts on Tuesday, May 10. The tournament will run for almost three weeks, with the big grand final on Sunday, May 29.
