On the Hill

Gerrit Cole ($10,000) vs. Kansas City Royals

After starting off the year slow, Cole had his breakout start last time out against the Cleveland Guardians. The right-hander struck out nine while walking one and giving up four hits over 6 2/3 shutout innings. Today, he faces a Royals team that ranks near the bottom in a lot of offensive categories, including 25th with 3.28 runs per game. They don’t strike out much, however, as they rank first in the league with a 20 percent strikeout rate. Even so, Cole should be able to get some distance once again, as the Royals don’t have many sluggers.

Nathan Eovaldi ($8,700) vs. Baltimore Orioles

Eovaldi is yet to suffer a loss this season and hasn’t surrendered more than three runs in any of his four starts. He is averaging 17.4 DraftKings points per game and went seven strong in his last start, his longest start of the year. The right-hander gets the Orioles today, who are towards the bottom of the league in most offensive categories. They average the least amount of runs per game at just three and also strike out the most with a 26.4 percent strikeout rate. Eovaldi has struck out at least five in every start, and two of those starts were against the Toronto Blue Jays and one against the New York Yankees.

The Sluggers

Aaron Judge ($5,500) vs. Carlos Hernandez

The Yankees slugger is on absolute fire right now, hitting his fifth homer in seven games last night. Over that week-long stretch, Judge is .357/.400/.929 with 11 RBI. Over those seven games, he has averaged 15.9 fantasy points per game. He faces a young 25-year-old pitcher in Hernandez who is still finding his footing on the season. The Venezuelan-born right-hander has only given up two homers so far but has walked five in 14 innings. He has a mere 7.7 percent strikeout rate and has allowed an expected slugging of .620.

Rafael Devers ($5,100) vs. Spenser Watkins

Devers has been on a roll, as he is currently on a six-game hitting streak. On the season, he ranks in the top two percent of the league with a 58.3 percent hard-hit rate and has slugged three homers. Watkins holds a 2.77 ERA on the season, but the underlying numbers are not great. The righty has a 5.27 xERA and 5.94 FIP, while his 8.9 percent strikeout rate is towards the bottom of the league. Look for Devers to keep his hitting streak alive while mashing against Watkins and the Orioles.

Other options: Max Muncy ($5,200), Jonathan India ($3,900), Kyle Schwarber ($5,000)
