Julian Knight MP Invites Elon Musk To The UK Parliament

Following the news about the acquisition of Twitter, Elon Musk has been invited to the UK Parliament to speak to MPs. An invitation comes from Julian Knight MP, who chairs the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee.

In his invitation to Musk, Knight says that the MPs are interested in talking to the billionaire about “restoring trust in digital platforms” and his “intention to roll out verification for all users.” Knight referred to the Committee’s 2020 Report on Misinformation in the Covid Infodemic which called for “greater transparency of bots and automated spam accounts” on social media.

Julian Knight MP is hoping that Elon Musk will accept to come and speak before Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) in the near future.

“I know you have expressed your wish that critics remain on Twitter and this may present an opportunity to address any critiques in public,” Knight said in a letter.

Musk did not respond yet whether he intends to come to the UK Parliament to talk to the MPs.

Yesterday, however, he responded to a story alleging that Coca-Cola, Disney, Kraft, and other biggest American brands face calls to boycott Twitter.

“Who funds these organizations that want to control your access to information? Let’s investigate,” said Elon Musk, adding that “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
