It’s not everyday you find yourself with the opportunity to purchase a Ford GT MK II; a vehicle that has been dubbed “the most advanced and exclusive Ford track car ever,” according to the company itself. The Ford GT MK II is the closest you can get to driving an actual Ford GT Lemans style race car and it’s going up for auction later this month at Mecum’s Indianapolis Spring Classic.
Listed as a “Main Attraction” with no reserve the all white 2020 Ford MK II currently belongs to car collector Dr. J. Christian McCarter who is bringing over 20 (mostly Ford) vehicles to the auction. A video presentation exhibits each vehicle in brief as well as shares some background of Dr. McCarter and how his love of Ford Performance is inspired by his father who worked on the Ford Assembly plant at one point.
The GT MK II as described by Dr. McCarter himself is a race ready Lemans chassis attached to the Ford GT road car drivetrain. Powering the supercar is a twin-turbocharged 3.5L 700 horsepower EcoBoost engine with 332 total miles and only 8 hours of total usage time. This Ford GT MK II is No.12 of only 45 ever produced and features numerous track ready accessories. The GT MK II features an FIA-compliant roll cage, six point harness Sparco seats, in-car communication system, as well as an internal jack system. On the outside the MK II features carbon fiber throughout that compliments other race oriented body work to provide 400 percent more downforce than the less wild Ford GT.
Hand built by Multimatic (the same company tasked with building the Ford Bronco DR), the Ford GT MK II is a track only driving machine that was sold on a bill of sale and comes with extensive documentation that tells the story of where and how this car was driven. The listing on Mecums Website shares a full list of specs and estimates the GT MK II to fetch $1.5 to $1.75 million dollars at auction May 13th to 21st.
