Many have been eagerly waiting for the F-150 Lightning to finally make its way to customers across the country. Ford CEO Jim Farley took a moment to share two exciting videos on Twitter that features a few examples of the battery-powered truck being loaded onto car-carrying trucks and trains.
The Ford F-150 Lightning continues to top the charts in electric truck consideration from potential customers, and the unprecedented demand as observed from reservation holders had Ford Motor Company closing the order books early, incurring a three-year waitlist for the all-electric truck. And it’s not just reserved for retail customers. Fleet companies want them, too, and even get their own special variant with the F-150 Lightning Pro.
Ford F-150 Lightning: Order Details
Demand is so high that Ford has had to double production for the electric truck. If you haven’t put in your order for the F-150 Lightning, you’re going to need to exercise patience and wait until order books open for the 2023 model. Luckily, that might not be too long of a wait as, according to the Lightning Owners Forum, production for the next model year is scheduled to begin at the beginning of August. The first models are expected to roll off the production line on October 10. With that in mind, the order books should open somewhere between these dates, but Ford has not made any official statements about 2023 orders as of yet.
Ford has also reported that the Lariat and base model Pro trims account for most orders, which is what Ford expected as they want people to use the trucks for their intended purposes. Since the Pro boasts an attractive starting price of $39,874 before incentives, it’s no surprise that people are drawn to it.
