Husker Dan: Huskers Continue To Score Via Transfer Portal

Nebraska gets a "Wynn-er" defensive line transfer from Alabama

Upfront News
New Husker Transfers

Over the weekend, Scott Frost & Company added another transfer player from the Alabama Crimson Tide. Stephon Wynn, a 6-5, 305 lb. D-lineman committed to the Huskers. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Wynn comes to Nebraska on the heels of another 'Bama transfer in 6-3, 215 lb. DB Kaine Williams. Kaine committed to the Huskers last week and has 4 years of eligibility remaining.

And this just in, it looks as if Texas WR, Marcus Washingon has decided to transfer to Nebraska. Marcus, at 6-2, 191 lb. was a teammate of Husker QB, Casey Thompson last season.

Koch Calls it Quits
Former Husker All-American punter, Sam Koch has decided to retire after 16 years with the Baltimore Ravens. Koch, from Seward, Nebraska, set the Husker record for punting average in a season in 2005 with an amazing 46.1 yards per punt. Koch had to wait his turn to take over the Husker punting duties from another great Husker punter, Kyle Larson from Kearney, Nebraska. Koch will remain with Baltimore, but will be coaching special teams for the Ravens.

Lake Bennett
Speaking of Husker kickers, former place kicker, Byron Bennett ('90-'93), sent me an email recently in response to last week's column about noted Husker football father/son duos at Nebraska. He sent some information about his son, Lake, who is a 6-1 220 lb. senior QB from Rockwall High School in Rockwall, Texas. Lake is a three sport athlete. Currently, he's not being recruited by Nebraska.
Byron is going to be on one of our future podcasts next month. Maybe we can get Lake to join us, too.

__Husker Fans Salute the Troops
__Memorial Day weekend is coming up this week\. It's a national holiday that has been observed in our country for 154 years\. The weekend will include parades, marches and other patriotic displays for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country\.

And next month, you have a chance to help honor veterans who are still with us. You can help them by donating to Salute and/or by playing in our Salute Golf Scramble Fundraiser, Friday, June 24th at the Ashland Golf Club in Ashland, NE.

Salute is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) foundation whose mission is to salute, serve and support our great men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Our Scramble will include some great golf, terrific food and some amazing door prizes. As a bonus, Husker fans will have the opportunity to play golf with some former Husker football greats.

Husker Receivers Coach, Mickey Joseph, will be our featured speaker. He will give us an update on the '22 Husker football season. We are expecting another sellout. You may register online at www.huskersalute.org.

All the proceeds from the scramble go toward our annual fall event (the weekend of November 12-13th) at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in Lincoln, NE.

Don't be left out of this classic golf event! Register now and help us say thanks to our veterans.
