As the holiday weekend has gotten underway, let’s make some money to spend on summer trips to the ballpark. Another edition of MLB DFS gets us going on this Saturday with a six-game main slate beginning at 7:15 p.m. EDT. Let’s dive into some bargains and fireworks for the slate on DraftKings.
Toeing the Slab
Keegan Thompson ($5,300) vs. Chicago White Sox
After starting the season with a 1.54 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 31 strikeouts to 10 walks over 35 innings, Thompson is primed to make his third start for the Cubs. While he will likely not give too much distance in the game, the value is still there with the potential there to limit the White Sox offense. The White Sox rank 27th in the league scoring 3.66 runs per game and 25th with a .649 OPS. One reason this may not create as big of an output is that the Sox lineup doesn’t have a high strikeout rate at 20 percent (ranked 5th).
Tony Gonsolin ($9,100) vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
The Dodgers right-hander has been off to an excellent start to the season, as he has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his eight starts. In addition, Gonsolin has also struck five or more batters five times and has scored over 20 fantasy points five times. He has a good matchup against a Diamondbacks lineup that is very light and strikes out over nine times a game which ranks 28th in the majors.

💣 Ty France ($4,000) vs. Jose Urquidy
The Mariners’ first baseman comes in riding a nine-game hitting streak after a 3-for-4 output with a homer last night. On the season, France is hitting .341 and hasn’t struck out much with a 10.6 strikeout rate. While Urquidy had a great start against the Rangers last time out, the right-hander still has pretty pedestrian numbers on the season. He has given up the hardest contact of his career at a 48.9 percent hard-hit rate and holds a 4.36 FIP, and 1.413 WHIP. Urquidy is also notably a reverse splits pitcher in his career, while France has mashed right-handers to the tune of a 182 wRC+ and five homers this season.
Alec Bohm ($4,100) vs. Taijuan Walker
On the outside looking in, Walker has pitched well of late. But he is bound to fall off as he 3.49 expected ERA and 3.71 FIP while striking out just 14.9 percent of batters. Albeit a small sample size, Bohm has gone 6-for-17 (.400) against the Mets’ pitcher in his career and has gotten hits in six of his last seven games. Walker’s worst start this season came against the Phillies, as well, as they scored six runs on nine hits in just four innings earlier in the month.

Memorial Weekend Discounts 💸
Andrew Vaughn ($3,500) vs. Keegan Thompson
Since returning from the IL on May 14, Vaughn has caught fire, going 12-for his last-29 (.414). In Thursday’s contest against the Red Sox, he went 2-for-5 with his fifth homer of the season and drove in five runs. While Thompson is one of our pitching plays, that doesn’t mean a slugger like Vaughn can’t smack him around. The power hitter is patient at the plate and drives the ball all over the field.
Pavin Smith ($3,500) vs. Tony Gonsolin
Smith is one of the hottest bats over the last week with a .589 wOBA and three homers while walking five times in his last 18 plate appearances. He has five homers on the season and sits in the 93rd percentile with a 15.2 percent barrel rate. Against right-handers in his career, Smith has smacked five homers and has recorded a .783 OPS and a .342 wOBA this season.
