Former President Donald Trump was kicked off Twitter following the January 6 Capitol attack but has stayed active on his social media platform, Truth Social. Over the weekend, he re-shared a Truth Social user’s commentary on a March 19 tweet from El Salvador President Nayib Bukele.
“The most powerful country in the world is falling so fast, that it makes you rethink what are the real reasons,” Bukele’s original tweet responding to a Bloomberg Opinion tweet on inflation read. “Something so big and powerful can’t be destroyed so quickly unless the enemy comes from within.”
The Truth Social user quoted the tweet and responded, “Civil War,” which Trump re-shared.
The tweet drew bipartisan criticism.
Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois), a frequent Trump critic, called on his Republican colleagues to speak out against the former president’s actions, “Any of my fellow Republicans wanna speak out now? Or are we just wanting to get through ‘just one more election first …?”
