MLB DFS 6/8: A Wishful Wednesday

There’s nothing more exhilarating than a 10-game evening slate. Wednesday has been a success in recent weeks, and I hope to keep by those standards. In recent weeks, the objective was to select the upperclassmen of the league despite the hefty expense. Although, I think it’s time I save you the pretty penny. Here are a handful of cheap tossers and bats you should consider for your DFS lineups.

On the Hill

Chris Bassitt at San Diego ($8,200)

Aside from his nightmare outing against the Giants, it wouldn’t be an understatement to say that Bassitt has been a force. Tossing six innings while coughing up just one earned run against the Phillies, the ex-Athletic has found his groove in the Big Apple. While he did allow a four-spot to the Dodgers in his recent start, the eight strikeouts are not something to dismiss.

Konnor Pilkington vs Texas ($6,700)

The rookie southpaw has been the x-factor for Terry Francona‘s squad. Not many expected the callup to the big leagues, as Pilkington nursed a 5.02 ERA down in Triple-A. Pilkington has proven otherwise and has been a diamond in the rough for the Guardians. Notching eight strikeouts in just five innings of work against the Royals, the heavyset southpaw hopes to preserve his flourish as he faces the Rangers.

At the Plate

Christopher Morel, 2B/OF ($4,300)

If you haven’t seen the iconic moment of his first major league long bomb, Morel has quite the motive. Skyrocketing past Double-A, it was clear Morel was prepared for the call-up. His rousing presence on the field and at the dish has lived up to the hype. Batting .298 along with three dingers and six stolen bases, Morel has provided a spark for David Ross‘s clubhouse.

Luis Arraez, 1B/2B ($4,600)

Formally known as the hitting machine, Arraez is back at the grind. His .361 batting average can speak for itself. Arraez is not noted for his raw power, yet, his consistency day in and day out has been a routine. Collecting four hits in the rubber matchup with the Blue Jays, along with two knocks in last night’s loss, Arraez is the hottest DFS bat on the market.

Marcus Semien, 2B ($4,700)

It has not been the type of season many expected out of Semien. He has looked relatively lost at the dish and has never found his steady stroke. Although, after a recent outburst, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for Semien. Collecting 10 hits over the past four games, as well as a three-home run in last night’s contest, it’s fair to say that Semien is slowly shaping into form.
