Even as the WL model has been on the market for roughly a year now, the last-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 is still available for purchase. This version of the Grand Cherokee does come in a limited amount of colors and trims, but considering how premium the new one can be, this is a solid, proven alternative.
According to Cars.com the WK2 is a continuation of the last Jeep Grand Cherokee which first went on sale in 2011. The new 2022 model (Jeep Grand Cherokee WL) includes trims like the 4xe and Grand Cherokee L. It’s important to note two things, firstly the practice of offering an older model like Jeep is doing, is not new. When old versions are still in demand and production on new vehicles is taking a little longer to spool up, manufacturers may offer an older model for an extended amount of time to fill the gap. Stellantis has also done with the Ram 1500 Classic, which continues to be built and sold, and even gets some of its own colors and trims. Secondly, Jeep has not yet mentioned exactly when it will kill off the Grand Cherokee WK2 but it did tell the car buying site that it will make a decision that reflects demand.

The Grand Cherokee WK2 comes in three trims; Laredo E, Laredo X, and Laredo Limited with price tags including destination fees of $1,595 at $38,575, $42,275, and $44,425 respectively. If you’re looking for a discount both the Laredo E and Laredo Limited are the way to go. The Laredo E carries a $1,545 discount compared to its newer model. The Laredo Limited carries a $2,015 discount compared to the new version. Four wheel drive is a $1,925–$2,020 upgrade depending on trim and Black, White, Red, and Gray are the only exterior color options available. The only power plant option remains the standard 3.6L Pentastar V6. No Hemi V8. You can build and price your Grand Cherokee WK2 on Jeep’s website, at least for the time being.
