The weekend is here so it’s time for your bartender to serve up some shots of MLB DFS plays. For this Friday, yours truly will be taking your orders for the 9:38 p.m. EDT slate on DraftKings which features four games. Since it is Friday and the slate has four games, I will be giving one home run call for each game, hence the title of this article. Let’s call our shot.
New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Angels
*Home run call:* [Eduardo Escobar](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/e/escobed01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=&utm_medium=referral) ($3,200)
Only two games removed from hitting for the cycle, Escobar is solid against left-handers. Plus, he slides up to the five hole with southpaws pitching and will be facing rookie Jhonathan Diaz. Versus left-handers the Mets’ third baseman has a .402 wOBA and .317 ISO. While he only has five homers on the season, three of them came over the last nine games and he actually hit three in seven games. His slugging percentage has risen from .374 at the end of May to .414 now.
Colorado Rockies vs. San Diego Padres
*Home run call:* [Manny Machado](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/machama01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=&utm_medium=referral) ($5,400)
Machado is having an MVP-type season thus far, with a .944 OPS, .404 wOBA, and nine homers. Of his nine homers, seven of them came within the first month of the season and his last came on June 3. He is due to go yard again and started to get things going again on Wednesday. Against the Mets, he had his first multi-hit game in a couple of weeks with two doubles. Right-hander Chad Kuhl hasn’t had a bad season so far, but has begun to regress and is due for a bad game against a good lineup on the road. Machado is seeing the ball well right now and could get a hold of one.
Boston Red Sox vs. Seattle Mariners

Rich Hill surrendered six runs in two innings his last time out against the Mariners. He has also given up 27 hits in his last 23 innings. The southpaw is significantly worse against opposite-handed batters, as right-handers hold .341 wOBA against him compared to .204 wOBA from left-handers. Rodriguez has performed very well in his rookie season so far, smashing seven homers in his first 54 games. The outfielder has nine multi-hit games over his last 21, and he has a .406 wOBA and 177 wRC+ against lefties.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants
*Home run call:* [Freddie Freeman](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/f/freemfr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=&utm_medium=referral) ($5,000)
Jakob Junis holds a 2.51 ERA with the Giants so far, but regression is certainly coming as his 7.33 strikeouts per nine innings are the second fewest of his career. The right-hander’s xwOBA (.329) is 69 (nice) points higher than his actual wOBA (.260) and he is historically worse against left-handed hitters. Facing opposite-handed batsman, Junis has given up a .345 wOBA in his career including .360 last season. Freeman is coming off a 3-for-5 games against the White Sox but hasn’t hit a homer since May 26. He is certainly due to get a hold of one and has a 157 wRC+ versus right-handers since 2019.
Lock: Joe Musgrove vs. Rockies
Musgrove is pitching at a different level this season and is an early National League Cy Young favorite. He is currently 6-0 with a 0.92 WHIP and 64 strikeouts to 14 walks in 66 innings and faces the Rockies away from Coors. Outside of Colorodo, the Rockies have the third-worst slugging percentage and fourth-worst OPS in the majors. Musgrove is rolling and will only continue to do so as he is averaging 23.8 fantasy points per game on DraftKings MLB DFS.
