DODGE CHALLENGER SRT HELLCAT FACES OFF AGAINST A REDEYE: VIDEO

Since the introduction of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in 2014, the horsepower-per-dollar paradigm has been reset. At the time, one could acquire 707 horsepower for just over $60,000 USD. Completely unheard of, to say the least. The Hellcat story only grew from there, with eventually introducing itself into the Dodge Charger, further amplified by Hellcat Widebody variants for both, and taken even further with the 797 horsepower Hellcat Redeye. But what does that difference in performance look like at the drag strip? Well, wonder no further.

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat vs. Hellcat Redeye

Because of inflation and demand, today’s Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has an MSRP of $69,620; with that, customers get 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque produced by the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8. It also features sports upgraded Brembo brakes, launch control, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and 20-inch aluminum wheels. Most important, it is extremely fast when accelerating in a straight line. But when compared to the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, the additional cost for the higher trim starts to seem worth it.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye costs at least $78,225 before destination and dealer fees. With that, you get 797 ponies under the hood with 707 lb-ft of torque from the same engine as the regular Hellcat. It needs 3.4 seconds to reach 60 mph from a standstill, and on a good day, it is a 10-second car down the quarter-mile. But is 90 hp more enough to justify the cost? We’ll let you decide after watching the video below. The Redeye is in Plum Crazy, the base Hellcat in Stinger Yellow. Will we see a similar shootout during 2022 Roadkill Nights? Hopefully.
