Smyth Performance has made itself known for its ute conversions, and the company has recently announced its newest pickup bed conversion for the seventh-generation Dodge Charger. They’re available for order right now. In addition to the announcement, they have released three renderings that show off how the final product will look, courtesy of Oscar Vargas on Instagram.
Smyth Performance Dodge Charger Truck Conversion: Details
The conversion looks similar to ones available on older Dodge Chargers, and that’s because Smyth Performance says the new kit uses 90 percent of the parts from the offering they had for the sixth generation charger that arrived in 2006. The visual changes to the bed conversion include styling tweaks on the sides to bend with the newer Chargers body, along with a unique one-piece rear surround and an updated roll pan. The company also took time to incorporate the shape without making changes to the fuel filler location.
If you’re keen on the more muscular widebody look for the Dodge Charger, that’s an available option you can get with the truck bed. It allows the Charger truck to run up to a 315-wide tire at the back, which is more than enough to accommodate Charger Widebody conversions or make a widebody rig from a standard model. Smyth Performance released the first run of 25 special edition conversion kits a few weeks ago, but pricing hasn’t yet been revealed. The 2006-2010 Dodge Charger kit starts at $3,590 for the materials, while installation can vary depending on the shop that does the work. So we can expect the price to be around that range.
We know that the widebody option adds an additional $1,000 to the price, but for Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat owners that want to convert their muscle cars into a truck, that might be worth the extra bit of cash to have the more aggressive appearance. While orders are now open for the conversion kit, deliveries won’t begin until sometime in August.
