Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh‘s dinner at the steakhouse chain Morton’s was interrupted by a group of protestors. He was dining with friends in downtown Washington D.C. when protestors forced Kavanaugh to escape through the back door.
When activists heard reports of Kavanaugh’s lunch, a crowd of people fomented outside the steakhouse, demanding the owner kick out the justice from the restaurant.
In response to the incident, the company came out with a statement and stated, “Honorable Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh and all of our other patrons at the restaurant were unduly harassed by unruly protestors while eating dinner at our Morton’s restaurant.”
“Politics, regardless of your side or views, should not trample the freedom at play of the right to congregate and eat dinner,” the statement said. “There is a time and place for everything. Disturbing the dinner of all of our customers was an act of selfishness and void of decency.”
As the crowd grew larger and louder, Kavanaugh was forced to leave the restaurant through the back, finishing his meal, but not before missing dessert.
Kavanaugh was a part of the conservative supermajority that voted 6-3 to overturn Roe v. Wade last month. When the draft opinion was leaked, Kavanaugh was the target of an attempted assassination.
