Mario Kart 8 Deluxe racers have been anxiously awaiting wave 2 of tracks from the Booster Course Pack DLC, though fans were disappointed when they received a release date rather than the DLC itself.
A massive DLC was announced in February, adding 48 remastered tracks to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. It was so big, in fact, that Nintendo split it into six waves with eight tracks each. The first wave dropped in March, bringing two new cups to the game.
Since then, Nintendo fans have been wondering what the next waves would include. Which previous titles would they come from? What would the cups be called? But players soon realized they didn’t even know when the second wave was coming out.
For a while, it was speculated that the second wave would come in mid-July but there was no word from Nintendo as the date loomed. Then mid-July passed and Nintendo fans became concerned. When would the second wave drop?
Nintendo announces Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Wave 2 release date
On July 28, Nintendo took to Twitter to reveal that Wave 2 is on the way. According to the official tweet, the second wave of the Booster Course Pass will arrive on August 4, 2022.
The DLC reveal was accompanied with a trailer as well as the reveal of eight new tracks. Among them are seven maps from almost every other game in the franchise and one brand-new map.
New track coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in Wave 2 of DLC
The announcement also revealed the new tracks coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Once again there will be eight tracks in total, split into two cups.
Turnip Cup:
- New York Minute (Tour)
- Mario Circuit 3 (SNES)
- Kalimari Desert (N64)
- Waluigi Pinball (DS)
Propeller Cup:
- Sydney Spring (Tour)
- Snow Land (GBA)
- Mushroom Gorge (Wii)
- Sky-High Sundae
While most of the tracks are remastered from previous Mario Kart games, there is one new track made specifically for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe named Sky-High Sundae. The dessert-themed map is full of ice cream cones, sprinkles, frosting, and even snack shops run by Toads.
The new map was exciting news for Mario Kart fans but most of the hype was surrounded Waluigi Pinball. This fan-favorite map has been one many fans have asked for since the announcement of the DLC.
