Ryota Aoki's injury-time equalizer snared Consadole Sapporo a share of the points in a 2-2 draw Saturday with J-League first-division opponents Nagoya Grampus.
Kenta Hasegawa's Nagoya side looked set to come away with the spoils after Mateus gave them a 2-1 lead in the 81st minute at Sapporo's Atsubetsu Stadium.
But Aoki put Mihailo Petrovic's men back on level terms in the second minute of time added, poking home from point-blank range when the ball spilled to him off a corner kick.
"I'm relieved we equalized," Aoki said. "We talked about the importance of getting the win and three points. I wish we could've done a little better."
The hosts took the lead in the 31st minute, making the most of their first real chance when Kazuki Fukai received Takuma Arano's through ball and finished under pressure.
Leo Silva evened the slate for Grampus in the 68th minute, gathering Kensuke Nagai's lateral pass and firing into the bottom corner.
Attacking sparkplug Mateus netted what looked to be the winner with less than 10 minutes left in regulation, colliding with teammate Ryota Nagaki but still managing to hit the target off a cut-back from Takuya Uchida.
Consadole are still looking for their first league win since beating Gamba Osaka on June 26.
