2023 GMC CANYON: THE OFFICIAL VEHICLE OF NOWHERE

GMC has released an ad teasing its upcoming 2023 Canyon pickup truck, which represents the third generation of the nameplate. Beautiful landscapes are showcased all throughout the ad, with the obvious connection that the new Canyon will be able to go just about anywhere. In particular: the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Edition 1.

The ad proclaims that “Nowhere is out there”, which plays perfectly into the expectation that the model will be receiving GMC’s AT4X offroad trim, which will be available for the first time on the model. The AT4X will be the brother trim to the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, and slots above the AT4 trim in the Canyon lineup.

GMC previously teased the Canyon with a photo of half of the revised front fascia, the vehicle sitting in front of a of a picturesque landscape. In addition to new exterior stying, the interior will also follow the lead of the GMC 1500 pickup truck, and could also receive features such as the MultiPro tailgate and CornerStep rear bumper.

The 2023 GMC Canyon is the architectural twin to the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. We expect engine options for the GMC to be the same as the Chevy, which consists solely of a 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine. Although only one engine option is offered, three tunes are available, starting with 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, before moving on to a 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque tune, and finally a 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque tune.

The ad is likely one of the last teasers that the brand will release before the full unveil of the truck on Thursday, August 11th at 11:00 AM, ET. Production will begin early 2023 at GM’s Wentzville plant in Missouri.
