2023 GMC CANYON DENALI: THE MOST LUXURIOUS MIDSIZE TRUCK YET

The 2023 GMC Canyon is here, and with it comes a host of redesigned features as well as the next iteration of the premium Denali trim. And after an up-close look at this new midsize truck entry, we gotta say, there’s nothing else in the market quite like it. Check out our exclusive photo gallery below to understand exactly what we mean.

2023 GMC Canyon Denali: All The Details

The exterior of the Canyon has been totally redesigned, and the Denali trim features a host of premium features such as chrome accents, chrome side steps, 20-inch wheels, and an available sunroof. A first for the model is the inclusion of underbody cameras for extra prowess when the pavement ends, while 32-inch tires and a widened chassis increase the foothold even greater. Denali trims also feature a 2-inch lift, and a high-clearance front bumper as part of the standard off-road package for a total ground clearance of 10.5-inches (267mm).

In person, this thing has all the presence of a full-size truck, especially when considering the LED reflector lights on the fender flares are shared exactly with the mighty GMC Sierra HD – the biggest truck in the brand portfolio.

Just one engine option is available for the 2023 Canyon, and that’s a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. And where Chevrolet offers three different tunes with the new 2023 Colorado, the GMC offers the high-output tune on every trim level, even the base Elevation. The L3B engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission with selectable drive modes in the Canyon Denali, including Terrain, Off-Road, Normal, and Tow/Haul, and sends power to either the rear wheels or all four based on the desired selection. For Baja Mode, you’ll have to look at the AT4X.

The inside of the vehicle is similarly appointed, with laser-etched wood decor and leather all around. A best-in-class 11-inch diagonal instrument cluster accompanies an available 6.3-inch heads-up display, while infotainment is taken care of by way of a central touch screen that spans 11.3-inches. Rounding out the cockpit is a trim-exclusive Jet Black interior package with teak accents, as well as a Bose seven-speaker audio system.

As for safety, the Canyon features a suite of standard driver assistance technology such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking with Bicyclist Detection, IntelliBeam auto high beams, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Alert. Safety Alert front seats are exclusive to the Denali trim, while Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, HD Surround Vision are available options.

The 2023 GMC Canyon Denali is packed with capability as well. The truck comes out of the box with a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds (3,493 kg) and a maximum payload of 1,360 pounds (617 kg).

Production of the 2023 Canyon will begin initial production in early 2023. The 2023 Canyon will start at around $40,000, but official pricing for the Denali trim will be revealed closer to the on-sale date.
