Chargers’ Justin Herbert Ranks 40 On NFL’s Top 100 List – Fan Says The QB ‘Should File A Lawsuit’

NGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA - SEPTEMBER 20: Justin Herbert #10 of the Los Angeles Chargers rolls out during a 23-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at SoFi Stadium on September 20, 2020 in Inglewood, California.

San Diego Chargers’ young star quarterback Justin Herbert picked up a ranking inside the NFL’s top 50 list – but fans weren’t too happy with it.

Each year, the NFL compiles a top 100 list, which is voted on by the players.

Normally, there are a few controversial picks – with Herbert being one of them this year.

He was placed at the 40th spot, which is an improvement from 57 last year.

In Herbert’s first two seasons, he has thrown for more than 9,300 yards and nearly 70 touchdowns.

Last season, only hall of fame quarterback Tom Brady registered more yards thrown than Herbert.

Some fans weren’t too happy about where Herbert was ranked.

One said, “There’s not 39 players better than Justin Herbert fwiw,”

“Herbert being ranked 40 is way too high. He should be in the 20-30 range of all players imo.”

And the strongest response to Herbert’s ranking read: “Herbert should file a lawsuit.”

Here are some other top reactions from the fans.

Most fans would probably agree that Kansas City Chief’s Patrick Mahomes and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen are the two top QBs in the NFL.

After that, Aaron Rogers and Brady follow – with Herbert not too far behind those two.

But one issue was the NFL decided to rank Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, who missed some time with injuries in 2021, higher on the list at 36.

Some would also argue that QBs should be ranked higher than most other athletes playing other positions.

This is because of the impact of the QB position and how much of the game is dictated by a signal caller.

Last season, the Chargers missed the playoffs after the Las Vegas Raiders kicked a last-second field goal in overtime.

Perhaps the list could have looked differently if Herbert was given a chance to light it up in the playoffs in 2021.

Next year, Herbert and the Chargers will hope that those fortunes will change and qualify for a playoff berth for the first time since 2018.

The top 20 NFL player list will is set to be released on Sunday, August 28.
