Nebraska Sweeps Pepperdine; Finishes Perfect on Opening Weekend

The No. 1 Huskers have yet to drop a set during the young season

A little bit of a challenge for No. 1 Nebraska on the second day of the 2022 campaign.

After not allowing more than 16 points in a set in either match Friday, the Huskers were pushed by Pepperdine to the tune of the Waves scoring at least 19 all three sets Saturday. Still, NU came out with another sweep: 26-24, 25-19, 25-22.

It wasn't a particularly strong offensive night for Big Red. The Huskers hit just .120 for the match. Only Madi Kubik had double-digit kills with 11 on .133 hitting.

Lindsay Krause and Whitney Lauenstein hit a little better, .161 and .238, to finish with nine and eight kills, respectively.

Defensively, though, Nebraska was dominant.

Pepperdine hit just .009 for the match. Nebraska had 41 digs on the match, led Nicklin Hames with 12 and Lexi Rodriguez with 11.

Kaitlyn Hord led the team with six blocks, followed by five for Kennedi Orr and four for Bekka Allick.

Orr also handed out 27 assists.

Up next is the Husker Invitational. Nebraska takes on Loyola Marymount Thursday and Ole Miss Saturday. The two visiting teams will play each other Friday.
