Huskers discuss upcoming North Dakota game and loss to Northwestern
Coach Scott Frost discussed what went wrong in the Huskers’ loss to Northwestern and urged fans to stay behind the team.
“Don’t give up on this team, because this is a neat group of kids,” he said Tuesday during Nebraska football's weekly press conference ahead of Saturday's game against North Dakota.
As for the season-opening upset loss in Ireland, Frost said it “came down to four or five plays on both sides of the ball again that we need to execute.” Avoiding a repeat of that “comes down to detail and consistency.”
Other points made by the coach:
- Tight end Travis Vokolek is “day-to-day” with the ankle injury he suffered Saturday.
- Coaches need to find a way to get running back/receiver Rahmir Johnson involved in the offense.
- Even though he mentioned a need for more creativity during his postgame comments Saturday, Frost said Tuesday that there is no tension between him and offensive coordinator Mark Whipple. “If I was calling a game, I wouldn’t want somebody else shoving a bunch of things down my throat. ... Whip’s an elite play-caller.”
