No. 2 Nebraska Volleyball Sweeps No. 13 Kentucky

The Huskers close the nonconference slate at 8-1

It didn't take long for No. 2 Nebraska volleyball to bounce back from their first loss of the season.

The Huskers went on the road for the first time Sunday, sweeping No. 13 Kentucky 27-25, 25-20, 25-16. The victory improves NU to 8-1 through the non-conference portion of the schedule.

Sticking with the 6-2 offense, coach John Cook utilized Anni Evans and Kennedi Orr. Nicklin Hames, who left the Stanford match with an injury, did not play.

Evans and Orr helped the Huskers hitters to a .302 hitting percentage. The defense also continued to do their job, holding Kentucky to just .141.

Becca Allick and Kaitlyn Hord again anchored the front end of the defense, with six and four blocks, respectively.

Whiteney Launstein had a match-high 11 kills on .370 hitting. Just behind her were Madi Kubik and Lindsay Krause with nine kills each.

Nebraska begins Big Ten play this week, hosting Michigan State Friday and No. 5 Ohio State Saturday.
