New automobiles continue to be in short supply, and it might be because of this that some are willing to go beyond the limits of the law to acquire one. That seems to be particularly the case for vehicles made in Michigan. Over at Flat Rock, the Ford Mustang continues to be a target. The same goes for the F-150 made in Dearborn. And in Lansing, it’s the Chevrolet Camaro.
Per one WILX report, a couple of 19-year old men attempted to steal two Chevy Camaros from the GM Lansing Grand River Assembly plant early Monday morning. According to the report, police were called at 2:30 a.m. from workers at the assembly plant who witnessed the individuals (who remain nameless) trying to make off with some Camaros from their southwest parking lot, situated on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Olds Avenue.

The type of Camaro’s that the two were trying to get away with was not included in the report however we might assume them to be higher performance than the thieves were ready for, perhaps a ZL1 1LE? One of the men never made it out of the parking lot, crashing into a concrete barrier. After his collision he attempted to flee on foot but to no avail, he was caught. The other managed to escape the parking lot but was later caught by authorities after crashing into a fence approximately 10-miles away near Michigan Avenue and Canal Road.

If they were trying to make off with the ZL1 1LE, It’s quite a powerful vehicle.The Camaro ZL1 1LE is powered by a 6.2L supercharged V8 that produces 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. GM put out a statement noting that they are looking to improve security at the plant.
