A SECOND CHANCE TO RESERVE A CHEVROLET SILVERADO EV IS COMING

Chevrolet is indeed readying a ground-up, all-new Silverado EV that will commence production next year as a 2024 model year vehicle. And if you wanted one, you had to reserve one at the beginning of this year. Unfortunately, 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV reservations are fully booked for both the Work Truck and the RST First Edition. That’s not surprising since it was revealed in January that the Silverado EV obtained 150,000 reservations, with 85,000 of those coming from 300 companies looking to add an electric work truck to their fleets. Reservations are $100 apiece. Given the huge waiting list, the books are about to open again.

to a recent interview conducted by MC&T with Chevrolet Silverado EV Chief Engineer Nichole Kraatz and leaders of her engineering team during the 2022 Detroit Auto Show, it was confirmed that a second wave of reservations will open up for Silverado EV Work Truck fleet customers.

“We’ve had a significant amount of interest going past the model year ’24 reservations. So, if you remember, our work truck launches first with our fleet teams. Fleet teams are sold out. There is actually more interest coming from the fleet teams, so we’re getting ready to do the next set of fleet reservations,” Kraatz stated.

2024 Silverado EV WT## Chevrolet Silverado EV WT: Details

The Chevrolet Silverado EV WT uses GM’s advanced Ultium EV platform and offers 510 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque. It promises an estimated 400-mile range from a full charge along with 8,000 lbs of towing capacity with 1,200 lbs of payload. According to Chevrolet, the Silverado EV WT will gain a max tow package sometime after launch, which will bump the trailing figure to 20,000 pounds max towing. Details on this package are still somewhat blurry in regard to towing range at that rating.

As for recharging, the Silverado EV WT features public DC fast charging capabilities of up to 350 kW, adding approximately 100 miles of range in 10 minutes based on GM estimates. WT customers also have access to Ultium Charge 360 Fleet Service, which Chevy claims is the industry’s most comprehensive charging solution for business. Production for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV WT will begin in the spring of 2023 for commercial fleet customers.
