Nebraska Completes Michigan Swing With Wolverine Sweep

The Huskers are the last remaining undefeated team in Big Ten volleyball play

A second consecutive weekend of road games had No. 3 Nebraska on a swing through the state of Michigan, culminating in a sweep of the Wolverines 25-14, 26-24, 25-19.

The victory improves Nebraska to 14-1 on the season and 6-0 in the Big Ten Conference. With Purdue's 3-1 loss to Wisconsin Saturday, the Huskers are the only remaining undefeated team in league play.

Nebraska hit .330 for the match, holding Michigan to .184.

Part of that low hitting for the Wolverines was the Husker block, led by seven for Kaitlyn Hord and six for Whitney Lauenstein. Once past the block, the ball had a hard time reaching the floor due to Lexi Rodriguez's 25 digs.

Kennedi Orr was one shy of her career-high for assists, finishing with 26. Anni Evans pitched in 13.

Bekka Allick was out for the match, along with Nicklin Hames still being sidelined. That put Maggie Mendelson into the middle role, where she finished with three kills and four blocks.

With Mendelson in the middle, Ally Batenhorst got more run at the pin. She tallied seven kills on 22 swings.

Madi Kubick led the Big Red attack with 15 kills on .519 hitting. Whitney Lauenstein was next with 10 kills on .240 hitting.

Nebraska returns home to for a pair of matches at the Bob Devaney Sports Center: Penn State Friday and Northwestern Sunday.
