Gist of Japan's eased COVID-19 border control steps

The following is the gist of Japan's eased border control measures that took effect Tuesday amid signs of decreasing coronavirus cases in the country.

The policy change involves:

-- lifting the 50,000-person entry cap.

-- removing a ban on individual trips by foreign tourists.

-- allowing people to skip COVID testing and isolation upon entry, if they have proof of having undergone three vaccinations or a negative test result within 72 hours of departure.
