Bitcoin and Ethereum lose gains after strong jobs numbers in US

By Darren Parkin

The cryptocurrency markets have released their hold on last week’s gains. Bitcoin is down 1.73% on the day and has lost 4.18% over seven days. The leading cryptocurrency by market cap is changing hands for $19,081 this morning. Ethereum is also down 4.9% over the past week, trading for $1,282 this morning.

The jitters in both crypto and traditional markets follows a week of relative calm. Experts believe the strong jobs numbers in the US labour market is to blame for this, and the Fed will almost certainly continue with interest rate hikes until these and other indicators show signs of a cooling economy.
