Bad Sisters, a new drama from Apple TV, follows the tight-knit Garvey sisters as they, and their motives, are investigated in the murder of their brother.

Sharon Horgan, who plays Eva Garvey and Eve Hewson, who plays Becka Garvey, recently sat down with uInterview founder Erik Meers to reveal if they relate to their extreme characters.

“No, I don’t know personally, but I absolutely relate to the idea of loving someone enough to protect them at all costs, but you keep your fingers crossed that that’s not going to go as far as murdering somebody,” Horgan said. “I definitely relate to that feeling. It’s a horrible feeling to see some you love destroyed in that way.”

“Yes. Yes to murder? Where are those bodies?” joked Hewson, who is rock icon Bono‘s daughter. “I’m just kidding, you know, I totally do relate. I think people can relate to the characters and their life, but the stakes are obviously so heightened for this show. Just in general, the kind of feeling of maybe it’s a boss or a boyfriend or a husband … someone you don’t like, everybody sort of projects that person onto [character] JP and it’s sort of cathartic to watch this show.”

The actresses also spoke on how it felt to see women executing the show’s murder plot.

“I’m genuinely quite bored of seeing women and girls for entertainment on TV,” Horgan said. “As you know, whether it is sort of cop dramas or murder mysteries or whatever it is, it’s true crime, it’s just something that I feel like we just need to turn that around. I get that it’s entertainment, but there are other stories out there.”

Season One of Bad Sisters is now streaming on Apple TV+.
