Mr Beast edges past PewDiePie to become most subscribed YouTuber

Jimmy “Mr Beast” Donaldson has officially dethroned Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg as YouTube’s most subscribed individual creator, with more than 111 million subs.

PewDiePie has reined over YouTube as the most-subbed individual for almost a decade. In 2018, T-series surpassed his sub count as a company, triggering an iconic feud that birthed timeless memes. The PewDiePie versus T-series bout is proof that the Swedish creator liked being the king of YouTube, but things have changed a lot this time around. PewDiePie has no hard feelings about Mr Beast’s accomplishment.

Mr Beast has been edging close to taking over the top spot on YouTube for months, and it has finally happened. But no memes or internet feud may happen this time. PiewDiePie said that Mr Beast deserved the spot, and it was long due.

“Come on, I’ve been retired for like two years now. I can’t wait for it to be over. That’s alright. He definitely deserves it. I hope he does it,” PewDiePie said back in August.

How many subscribers does Mr Beast have?

Mr Beast has now hit more than 111 million subscribers on the platform, which will continue to grow in 2022.

Mr Beast hit the 111 million mark on November 12, going toe to toe with PewDiePie. But now he has officially become the most subscribed YouTuber after topping PewDiePie’s count.

“I appreciate every single one of you that watches the videos. This is literally all I’ve ever done with my life. All I do is wake up every day and obsess over how to make the best videos possible. It’s all I care about,” he said in a live stream.

Mr Beast’s new record comes as no surprise for the fans, considering PewDiePie has actually moved a bit away from content creation. On the other hand, Mr Beast continues to drop high-quality content, creating new trends for smaller creators. The real-life Squid Game is an excellent example of his dedication to YouTube content creation.

Mr Beast will likely retain this stop for the next few years as he expands his area of video production. It remains to be seen how he will celebrate this new milestone after buying 111 lottery tickets to mark hitting 111 subscribers.
