Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins is having a rough week.
Just after getting called out for promoting a crypto scam, IShowSpeed has come forward about Sky Sports dropping him. On November 14, the company cut ties with IShowSpeed and started deleting videos that included the young streamer.
Sky Sports’ reporter Geoff Shreeves had previously interviewed IShowSpeed but the company found out soon after about the streamer’s previous sexist comments while playing Valorant. In response, Sky Sports started to take down videos that featured IShowSpeed.
Now, IShowSpeed has responded.
IShowSpeed responds to sexism allegations
After the videos started being taken down, IShowSpeed decided to write an official response.
The controversial content creator recounted his interview with Sky Sports while watching a soccer game in Fulham. They wanted to get IShowSpeed’s response to Christiano Ronaldo not playing. But since then, the clips have been removed due to the offensive comments IShowSpeed made during a Valorant match to female teammates.
“I’m 17 years old. I was 16 when that happened and made a huge mistake. It was stupid and immature. I immediately realized and apologized,” IShowSpeed wrote on Twitter. “I will continue to work on myself as I navigate this world, growing up online. I recognize that I have a responsibility to set an example to those who follow and support me.”
IShowSpeed added that he wished Sky Sports had talked to him before removing the content from Soccer AM. He tried to contact the company already and said he will continue to try.
Meanwhile, IShowSpeed said that he has taken responsibility for his actions and is continuing to work on himself.
What did IShowSpeed say about women?
While playing Valorant, the streamer started yelling in an over-the-top fashion to his teammates after getting eliminated. When a female teammate responded to him, he called her a b— and then told her to “clean the dishes.”
“Who the f— is you talking to, b—?” he yelled at one point.
Before that clip went viral, IShowSpeed had also been heavily scrutinized for harassing a female streamer on Adin Ross’ toxic online dating show. When the woman turned him down, he said “who is gonna stop me” if they were the last two people on the earth. This was taken as a threat by the woman and many online agreed.
At this point, a lot of people have grown tired of IShowSpeed’s antics. In response to his apology, many people tweeted back that they didn’t care. Some said they had been waiting “for his downfall.”
IShowSpeed still has a massive fanbase. He currently has 13.3 million subscribers on YouTube.
