NEW BULLITT MOVIE FROM STEVEN SPIELBERG WILL STAR BRADLEY COOPER

The classic film Bullitt is getting a reboot, and Bradley Cooper and Steven Spielberg are teaming up to make it. The incredibly versatile Cooper (The Hangover, American Sniper, A Star Is Born) will play the titular detective Frank Bullitt while he and Spielberg (ET, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan) will be producers for the film. Steve McQueen portrayed the character in the original movie from 1968. However, if you’re expecting a remake of the original, it reportedly won’t be, as Cooper and Spielberg had begun discussing a new take on the film during the pandemic lockdown.

New Bullitt Movie: Details

The first hints about a new Bullitt film came out in February 2022 when the information was leaked that Spielberg was working on it. Cooper wasn’t attached at the time, and there wasn’t a writer. But now, there is. Josh Singer will be writing the script for the movie. He also wrote The Post, directed by Spielberg. Singer also penned Maestro, an upcoming biopic about composer Leonard Bernstein with Cooper as the director and star. There is still no information regarding when the filming will begin or a tentative release date.

1968 Ford Mustang Bullitt

The original Bullitt was about a San Francisco Police Department detective guarding a mob informant until hitmen kill the gangster. However, the film’s main highlight is the extended car chase between McQueen in a dark green Ford Mustang and two villains in a black Dodge Charger. If you’ve never seen the movie, we’ll embed a clip below for you to see. It’s worth a watch, especially if you’re a fan of the sound those classic engines made.

The Bullitt Mustang became an icon after the film’s release, and the screen-used 1968 car was sold at an auction in 2020 for $3.4 million, which set a new record for a Mustang. However, people had no idea where the famous vehicle was for years until it resurfaced in 2018. Ford also understands the film’s importance to the Mustang story, and for the 2001 model year, the automaker introduced the Bullitt GT as a more powerful 4.6-liter V8. In addition, the car had a lowered suspension and styling that took inspiration from the movie. Another version became available for the 2008 and 2009 models, and one more time with the S550 Mustang generation.

There’s no immediate indication on whether or not the new Bullitt film will star a new S650 Ford Mustang, or if the movie will force us to watch an electric car chase.
