‘One thing I’m going to be able to control is getting this team ready for Iowa’
With all the uncertainties that are coming after Friday's Nebraska football season finale, interim head coach Mickey Joseph says he's focused on something more concrete.
"One thing I'm going to be able to control is getting this team ready for Iowa. After Iowa, then we have some decisions are going to have to be made. But right now I'm just going to control what I can control."
A decision on who will be Nebraska's permanent head coach could come this weekend. How will Joseph spend a rare Saturday off with that issue hanging in the balance?
"I'm going to be on my couch until I get a phone call, OK? I'm going to be real with you. I'm going to be on my couch," Joseph said. "I'm going to coach them up until Friday and then Saturday I'm going to spend all day with the family. Then Sunday I'll probably come in and get some things done. But until I hear anything, everybody's going to kind of just take some time away."
The team has won just two of eight games under Joseph, but he said the players have made strides. "They can see the growth in themselves, and I can see the growth in them. And I think that they know that you can build something there. They know we're a couple pieces away."
