2023 JEEP COMPASS AIMS TO OVERPOWER THE FORD BRONCO SPORT

The 2022 model year of the Jeep Compass came with a complete redesign of the SUV, and for the 2023 Compass, the brand is building upon that redesign and bringing a boost to the vehicle’s performance with a turbocharged powertrain. The 2023 Compass will have a newly equipped 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that offers a standard 200 horsepower, dropping the 180 hp 2.4L MultiAir engine in the process. In effect, the updated Jeep Compass engine delivers more power than the standard Ford Bronco Sport.

The new engine for the 2023 Jeep Compass will deliver exceptional responsiveness and enhanced drivability. The Hurricane 2.0L direct injection turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine is rated at 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft. of torque and is mated to a new, highly efficient eight-speed automatic transmission. For comparison, the Ford Bronco Sport comes with a standard 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, and only makes 181 horsepower. Though, there is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine available that makes 245 ponies in the top-shelf Bronco Sport Badlands trim.

The full lineup of Jeep Compass 4×4 models delivers even more legendary off-road capability, plus an exciting amount of advanced safety and security features. The SUV will be available in five different 4×4 trim configurations, including Sport, Latitude LUX, Limited, and the rugged Trail Rated Trailhawk. In addition, the newly standard Jeep Active Drive can be found on all Jeep Compass trims and is enabled by an innovative PTU. The Jeep Active Drive 4×4 system is fully automatic and delivers seamless operation in and out of the four-wheel drive at any speed with no driver intervention. In addition, Jeep Active Drive helps enable the SUV to have optimal grip in low-traction conditions.

Meanwhile, the Compass Trailhawk, with its legendary off-road capability, will come equipped with Jeep Active Drive Low. This system builds on the Jeep Active Drive 4×4 system and affords a class-leading 20:1 crawl ratio and low range for 4×4 Trail Rated capability. Both of these systems include the Jeep Selec-Terrain system that provides up to four drive modes for driver-controllable, four-wheel-drive performance on- or off-road and in all weather conditions.
