Following the acquisition announcement of Park “Viper” Do-hyeon to their 2023 roster, Hanwha Life Esports announced on Nov 25 that top laner Hwang “Kingen” Sung-hoon and mid laner Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo will also be joining their 2023 League of Legends team.

These two players were the driving force behind DRX’s successful Worlds run in 2022. Kingen received the MVP for his performance in the match against T1 at Worlds finals, while Zeka, despite this year’s appearance being his first, rose to stardom for his stellar performance throughout the tournament.

On the acquisition, HLE commented,

“Hwang ’Kingen’ Sung-hoon, winner of the 2022 World Championship, and Kim ‘Zeka’ Geon-woo will join Hanwha Life Esports. We sincerely welcome ‘Kingen,’ who has strong ability in a team fight, and ‘Zeka’, who is a versatile player with super plays.”

There’s been many reports and rumors with regards to the remaining two positions for their 2023 roster. They suggest that jungler Kim “Clid” Tae-min, who played under FunPlus Phoenix in 2022, while Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee, who played support under the same roster as Kingen and Zeka, will also join his former teammates for 2023. Until HLE’s final announcements on the rest of the roster, these reports remain to be true.
