From Software announce new Armored Core game

Fans of From Software’s old work are over the moon right now, with a new Armored Core game being announced at the 2022 Game Awards.

From Software’s last project before Demon’s Souls and the beginning of their famous Souls-like games was a mech-piloting game called Armored Core. That series is rearing its head again with a new Armored Core game being announced at the 2022 Game Awards.

New Armored Core game announced

The highlight of the 2022 Game Awards for many fans is going to be From Software’s latest announcement. Coming hot on the heels of Elden Ring’s smash success, the Bandai Namco-published studio is going back to its origins with a flashy trailer for a new Armored Core game being announced. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon was announced with a trailer showing the post-apocalyptic landscape of the Armored Core games and some appropriately explosive mech combat. There’s no gameplay to speak of just yet, but fans of From Software can be excited that the studio is going back to its roots with a brand-new futuristic combat game.

The Armored Core games are the origin of many of From Software’s signature choices, also being the first time that fans met Patches, the loveable, or unloveable, scoundrel who has found his way into each and every Souls title over the course of the years. The Armored Core VI trailer seems focused mostly on the tone and setting of the world, with no gameplay to speak of, but director Miyazaki said that he was set on making “even more exciting games than [Elden Ring]” during his acceptance speech. Given the massive impact on the gaming space that Elden Ring has had, fans can be sure that Armored Core VI will offer much of From Software’s distinct difficulty, but this time in a futuristic setting.
