The Tesla Cybertruck has been a lot of things since its initial public debut way back in 2019. The truck has been subject to multiple delays since its infamous debut. It was beaten to the all-electric pickup truck market by Rivian, Ford, and Chevy to name a few. One thing it never was, was a two-door pickup. Some artwork at the famous Petersen museum in Los Angeles however, depicts a two-door Cybertruck, leading many to believe there will be a two-door iteration in its future.
Elon Musk did hint that the Cybertruck could be made smaller to fit inside the typical garage, but wasn’t mentioned as part of the developmental updates he has given over the years of delays. Perhaps a version of the truck down the road could be a two-door, but they haven’t even mass produced the four-door version yet. In his latest update CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, mentioned that production on the Cybertruck will begin next fall. The company has also recently opened applications to staff their new Austin Texas, factory to help with production.
This new sketch (found and tweeted out by a Petersen Automotive Museum Patron) might arouse curiosity, but it’s not an official indicator of future plans of the all-electric truck. In its current form, the Tesla Cybertruck already has 1.5 million pre-orders on hand and a long way to go before being able to claim they are mass producing the vehicle. If you’re in line for one, it will be a long wait, however Musk has also made it clear that the Cybertruck will happen. And it could be as early as the second half of 2023, according to the latest reports.
Maybe we’ll see a two-door Tesla Cybertruck eventually. But if the current timeline of the four-door bodystyle is anything to consider, it might not be until the end of the decade.
