2023 MSI rumored to be happening in London, UK

The next Mid-Season Invitational, 2023 MSI, is rumored to be happening in London, United Kingdom, according to Esports News UK.

The Mid-Season Invitational is one of two international events in which professional League of Legends teams from every region converge on one country to face off in competition. According to Esports News UK, the 2023 MSI will happen in London, United Kingdom.

2023 MSI to happen in London

Esports News UK announced on December 12 that its sources indicated Riot Games was planning to host the Mid-Season Invitational in Ol’ Blighty itself. The United Kingdom League of Legends scene has been inconsistent at the best of times, so many fans were surprised to hear that London was the presumptive location for 2023 MSI. Some fans were slightly outraged that Riot had shuttered the United Kingdom competitive scene, the UKLC, and then brought one of League of Legends’ largest events to its shores. Some fans felt like Riot was taking away the foundations of their esports scene with one hand and giving them an international event with the other.

Barring any other updates from Riot Games, this rumor proving true would set League of Legends’ international schedule for the year. The 2023 MSI event would take place in London while the World Championships have already been announced to be taking place in South Korea. Some fans were expecting a new international event with the possibility of a World Cup-style event being floated by Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent, but as of the moment, MSI and Worlds are the only confirmed international events for 2023.

This would be the United Kingdom’s first proper international League of Legends event, as mainland Europe is often the focus of international events as well as the LEC’s playoffs and finals. With no other location floated, Esports News UK’s reporting is likely to be accurate with the 2023 spring split approaching quickly in most major regions.
