How to get more FPS in League of Legends

League of Legends can run on practically any PC, but here are some tips for how to get more FPS in League of Legends.

If you find your rig dropping frames in the middle of a crucial team fight or suddenly freezing up as a Rengar leaps out of the bush at you, there might be some solutions within your control. While it’s a relatively well-optimized game, sometimes League of Legends can still stutter at the most crucial moments, and when milliseconds count, FPS drops can lose games.

How to get more FPS in League of Legends

There are a few easy steps to improve your FPS in League of Legends. The first and easiest thing that you can do is to enable Low Spec Mode in your settings. Low Spec Mode is a tuned-down version of the game that specifically tries to peel back as many of the extra layers of visual flare to the game and generally reduces what’s needed to play the game. Otherwise, make sure to downgrade your graphics, and look for the option to disable eye candy, which includes graphical additions like birds landing on the terrain around Swain as he traverses the map.

Apart from in-game graphics changes, there’s always the option to try and improve its performance outside of the settings. Try not to run unnecessary programs at the same time as League of Legends if your computer struggles, so turn off Spotify and definitely close down the CPU-chugger that is Google Chrome or similar browsers streaming music or videos. You can also choose to set a high priority for the program in your application settings, or disable full-screen optimizations for League of Legends in its application preferences.

The only other near-universal solution is to make sure your computer’s drivers are fully updated, as un-updated drivers are a common and straightforward reason for low FPS in League of Legends. Hopefully these tips work for you, as these steps tend to result in improvements on their own, and all of them combined will likely see significant improvements to the MOBA’s performance.
