Samsung is likely to cause a sensation at this year's CES, which opens its doors in Las Vegas Thursday, January 5. The South Korean manufacturer will present a new screen that both folds and slides, bringing together a vast array of expertise from various departments at the South Korean company.

Last spring, Samsung demonstrated two new concepts, a smartphone with a tri-folding screen, ie, a system of double folding that goes both inwards and outwards, and another device with an expandable screen, capable of unfolding and then retracting horizontally or vertically, as required.

These two technologies, which are also set to be present at CES, are now giving rise to a new prototype unveiled exclusively in Las Vegas. This "Flex Hybrid" screen combines folding and sliding capabilities. Depending on how it's being used, it can go from a small 10.5-inch tablet (4:3 format) to a 12.4-inch laptop (16:10). Keep in mind that Samsung is already a pioneer of foldable screens for smartphones and has even made this technology more accessible with its popular Galaxy Z Flip4.

In addition to this one-of-a-kind display, Samsung will showcase its enhanced QD-OLED technology at CES 2023, which is said to deliver brighter and more realistic image quality through an advanced optimization algorithm on displays of up to 77 inches. Finally, the manufacturer will showcase a dashboard specifically designed for entertainment in future self-driving cars, combining two displays of 34 and 15.6 inches.
