We’ve been covering several stories on AutoForecast Solutions and their recent predictions for a wide range of products. With the arrival of the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept, we decided now was a good time to take note of the predicted production timeframe for the truck. Though, the concept unveiled at CES 2023 may offer more features than customers will find in the production model, at least to start.
Ram Revolution Production Cycle Forecast
According to the AFS forecast, the Ram 1500 BEV will ride on the STLA Frame along with the next-generation Jeep Wrangler, and we can expect to see it produced at the Warren Truck plant in Michigan, where the Ram 1500 is currently built. We expect production to begin for the electric truck in mid-November of 2024 likely. However, production is predicted to run through until June of 2031, which will be nearly a seven-year production cycle.
Interestingly, the Ram 1500 REPB, also known as the range extender variant of the electric truck, is slated to begin production before its fully electric counterpart in September 2024. Its production cycle will also run until June 2031. Little else is publicly known about this truck, other than it’s expected to be a plug-in hybrid pickup that will alleviate range anxiety for drivers and could lower curb weight with a smaller battery to lug around.
CEO of Ram Trucks Mike Koval Jr. mentioned a “class shattering” range extender version that would be separate from the Ram 1500 BEV. We know that a range extender is an EV with an onboard gasoline or diesel-powered motor that charges the batteries when they get low. This gives you the performance of a BEV but without range anxiety. A recent trademark filing indicates that the new pickup will be called the Ram 1500 REV, but as the concept has just debuted today with no indication of use for the term, it may be more likely used for the range-extender variant.
