NBA Week 14: Games to Watch

Aside from the games, there are other things to look forward to in Week 14 (Jan. 16 to 22) of the NBA. Fans will be waiting for January 19. What’s up with that date? Well, the last update regarding All-Star voting results will be released on that day before voting stops two days later, on January 21st. It’s time to get your votes in.

Here are some games to watch before that All-Star Voting deadline.

Jan. 18: Dallas Mavericks versus Atlanta Hawks

At first, everyone thought the trade between Luka Doncic and Trae Young was an “equal” deal. Doncic then started racking up triple-doubles, grinding out improbable wins for the Dallas Mavericks and entered the MVP conversation. Is Young beginning to feel that the trade’s value is slowly tipping in the direction of Doncic? If yes, he will probably have to do something astonishing and amazing to ensure that the “Doncic versus Young” debate stays alive.

Jan. 18: Los Angeles Lakers versus Sacramento Kings

The Kings face the Lakers just 11 days after their controversial game. It had one of those “was-it-a-foul-or-not” type of scene during crunch time. The Lakers ended up winning by two, and we all know that the Kings might want to win this one to ease the pain of that loss. So watch out for this game, especially if it is close in the fourth quarter.

Jan. 19: Boston Celtics versus Golden State Warriors

The Celtics already lost to the Warriors last month in a game where Jayson Tatum was held to 6-of-21 shooting. So look for Tatum to bounce back and for the Celtics to defend better if Robert Williams III is available. Remember, this team just battled the Warriors in last season’s NBA Finals, so we know a competitive game is going to be on full display.

Jan. 20: Cleveland Cavaliers versus Golden State Warriors

It is going to be the “Battle of the Backcourt Players” in Ohio. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson of the Warriors have something in common with Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland of the Cavaliers. Both duos are averaging around 50 points per game. Anyone out of those four players can easily go for 60 points if their coaches would allow it. That is something fans should keep an eye on.

Brooklyn Nets on the Road

It’s time to see what coach Jacque Vaughn is made of. He will be navigating his Nets team through rough roads during the week. Facing four Western Conference teams without Kevin Durant and home-court advantage is going to be overwhelming. Unless guys like Nicolas Claxton and T.J. Warren step up, Kyrie Irving will probably shoot all the shots.
