Hot on the heels of regular ebikes comes the first folding cargo bike. But folding this type of cycle is no easy task, even if it makes it easier to transport.

The Urbanox is a cargo bike made by the German manufacturer Avnson. This two-wheeled aluminum cargo bike has the particularity of being able to fold up, reducing its size from 2.30 m long to just 1.42 m. It weighs 28 kg.

Still, the folding system remains more fastidious and time-consuming than for a conventional folding bike. Its weight is also a factor when it comes to lifting the bike to store it somewhere. The folding system is operated from the hinge located under the bike. The rear of the bike then folds forward. You then retract the saddle and the handlebars to complete the operation and save space -- almost one meter, in fact.

The main interest of a folding bike is that it favors multi-modal travel, being able to replace car or bus use for short trips, whether for the transportation of people or goods. With the growth of possible uses, the cargo bike could not escape this trend.
