Diablo 4 beta early access: How to apply

A Diablo 4 beta test has already been confirmed by Activision-Blizzard, which has demon hunters worldwide on edge.

As with most modern multiplayer games, Blizzard will rely on the community to shave any rough edges off Diablo 4 before its official release in June 2023. An early gameplay preview for the highly-anticipated ARPG was announced at the end of 2022, but Blizzard has yet to reveal many details on the event. However, the developer has announced how to get in the drawing for early access.

Here’s how to sign up for Diablo 4 beta tests and when they may go live in 2023.

How to apply for the Diablo 4 beta

Diablo 4 beta access will be announced on the game’s official website once Blizzard finalizes plans for the preview.

To get ready for the announcement, be sure to log in to the website and get your account set up. Players can link their Battle.net, Xbox, or Playstation accounts to the Diablo 4 site, which will be necessary for applying. Blizzard has unfortunately kept beta details under wraps since the announcement, and no set date has been announced. It’s reasonable to expect that the Diablo 4 beta will come out a couple of months before the June release date, putting March to early April as a reasonable date to expect. However, Blizzard could also launch a beta earlier or closer to release.

Note that those who apply are not guaranteed access to the Diablo 4 beta. The only way to ensure getting in is by preordering the game. Diablo 4 is currently up for pre-purchase on Battle.net and the Xbox and Playstation digital storefronts. After connecting your accounts on the Diablo 4 website, you will be guaranteed to be accepted into the beta.

Will a poor beta test lead to a delay?

Diablo 2 is currently set for a June 2023 release, but could a bad beta lead to a last-minute delay?

Activision-Blizzard is no stranger to delays, with Overwatch 2 going from another June release to October after multiple beta tests. The game is even still technically in early access, though servers for Overwatch 1 have already been taken down. A rough round of testing for Diablo 4 could lead to a similar delay, eventually launching in late 2023.

Blizzard is still in the game developer hot seat after a string of scandals and controversies. With sexual harassment claims and loot box controversies in its wake, the developer is likely hoping the official release goes as smoothly as possible. This is also one of the first big releases since the gaming juggernaut started the process of transferring to a Microsoft subsidiary. The company will likely choose to play it safe for this release, especially after the community outcry feeding frenzy that was Diablo Immortal.
