Jay Leno is an automotive enthusiast for automotive enthusiasts, he’s been able to test drive cars before anyone else and chat with the President about his own true classic muscle car. That being said, he’s not having the greatest of times as of late. For starters he suffered second degree burns in a garage accident in November of last year. This month, he was launched from his Indian motorcycle while on a ride, breaking multiple bones. In addition, “Jay Leno’s Garage” has reportedly been canceled by CNBC after negotiations fell short.
For those that don’t know, Jay Leno was “The Tonight Show” host for over two decades (22-years). He also hosted his own automotive show “Jay Leno’s Garage” for seven seasons. According to the Hollywood Reporter, CNBC is cutting ties with Leno, not for his most recent headlines of accidents but a change in strategy. The network is looking to implement more reality shows and business programs for viewers going forward. How Leno will continue forward with producing and publishing episodes on his YouTube channel, which has 3.46 million subscribers, remains to be seen.
Leno shared that he broke his collarbone, cracked two kneecaps, and broke two ribs from the wreck. He was riding a vintage Indian motorcycle when the smell of fuel prompted an attempt to pull over and inspect the cause. In pulling the motor bike into what appeared to be an open parking lot, an unmarked wire cable anchored at two ends caused Leno to eject from the motorcycle while the motorcycle continued at speed. Leno is 72-years old and has been lucky enough to test drive the GMC Hummer EV before anyone else and get behind the wheel of a 2023 Z06 before personnel at GM could even do so.
