Harry Kane says player Man City let go in 2021 was better than Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Harry Kane has said that one former Manchester City player was better than Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Across his playing career, the former AC Milan striker made 827 club appearances in a period of over 20 years, scoring 496 goals along the way.

In Kane’s 545 senior games throughout his career, the Englishman has found the back of the net 340 times in total, which highlights the credentials he has in terms of being able to discuss strikers.

Now though, the former Tottenham Hotspur star has suggested that one player who, like him and Ibrahimovic, knows all about scoring goals, was a better centre-forward than the prolific Swedish striker.

In a recent short shared on Goal’s official YouTube channel, Kane was asked to blind rank five former strikers.

After putting Sergio Aguero in third place, the England captain put Ibrahimovic in fourth and Didier Drogba in fifth.

Having scored 101 goals in 134 appearances for Atletico Madrid, Aguero joined City during the 2011 summer transfer window in a deal worth £38m.

Spending 10 years at the Manchester club, the Argentine found the back of the net 260 times in 390 appearances across all competitions, becoming the club’s top goalscorer in 2017.

Once he left City in 2021, a statue was made in his likeness to acknowledge his impressive efforts for the Citizens during his decade in England.

All in all, it’s safe to say that the centre-forward has been one of City’s best signings since the takeover in 2008 and is now considered to be a club legend.

Aguero vs Ibrahimovic

Even though Ibrahimovic scored lots of goals during his career and did it at big clubs in Italy, France, England, Spain and the Netherlands, the fact that Kane put him below Aguero in his striker ranking suggests to us that the Englishman may appreciate Aguero’s achievements with City more than what Ibrahimovic did with the clubs he played for.
