Kari Lake, the former news anchor who ran and lost as the 2022 Republican nominee in the governor’s race for Arizona, filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to join the run for the U.S. Senate in Arizona. Lake is expected to announce her decision at a rally on October 10 formally. Her entrance into the race turns the pressure up on Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I), who has yet to announce if she will be running for reelection. Lake isn’t the only candidate who has entered the race – Rep. Ruben Gallego (D–Arizona) announced his candidacy in January. Sinema, a former Democrat who repeatedly...

Prosecutors from Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ office are currently investigating the submission of an alternate slate of electors to be included in Congress’ counting of electoral votes on January 6, 2021. Allies of former President Donald Trump are alleged to have created the slate. Trump’s fake elector scheme was designed to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Mayes, a Democrat elected that same year, has vowed to conduct a thorough probe into efforts that took place in Arizona, where “alternate” electors signed paperwork claiming that Trump had one the state. “We...

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Arizona) was outraised by chief Democratic challenger Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Arizona) for the second consecutive quarter by a two-to-one margin. Sinema has not yet announced a bid for re-election next year but has raised $1.7 million from April 1 to June 30. Gallego, who has already launched a bid for Sinema’s seat, raised $3.1 million in that same time period. Sinema’s fundraising total dropped slightly since the first quarter, in which she brought in $2.1 million. She has remained reliant on corporate political action committees and did not receive any donations from th...

Former Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake said that she believes she is the only candidate who could win the 2024 Arizona Senate race. Lake has yet to announce her candidacy, though it is speculated that she will do so in the fall. “I’ve looked at the polling, to be honest, and I believe I’m the only one who could win that race,” Lake said at the Family Leadership Summit in Iowa. Lake’s Senate bid has been a topic of discussion since her loss to Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-Arizona) last November. Following the election, Lake launched a lawsuit contesting Hobbs’ victory. Lake was fine...

A group of lawyers called the 65 Project, which targets attorneys who make spurious claims of election fraud, have filed bar complaints against former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake‘s lawyers. Lake has not accepted that she lost last year’s race for Arizona governor race. She made fraud claims and filed lawsuits to advance the claim. Last month, a judge ruled that she had failed to provide evidence to support her claims. The four lawyers representing Lake originally filed the lawsuit in April, claiming that electronic voting machines could not be trusted. Michael Teter, the managing...

Kari Lake is facing possible felony charges in Arizona due to posting photos of voters’ signatures on Twitter. Lake lost her race for governor to Democrat Katie Hobbs by over 17,000 votes and claims that the election was stolen from her due to voter fraud. Lake shared 16 photos of voters’ ballots signatures on Twitter in an effort to prove that almost 40,000 ballots in November didn’t match voter signatures that the state of Arizona has on record. “I think all the ‘Election Deniers’ out there deserve an apology,” she tweeted. Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes (D) sent a criminal referra...

After Arizona conservatives faced one of their worst turnouts in decades during the 2022 midterm elections, state Republicans have chosen to replace staunch Donald Trump ally Kelli Ward with Jeff Dewit, a former Trump aide with more measured rhetoric surrounding Trump’s 2020 election conspiracies. Ward had made efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona outright, even going as far as to censure Republican state Speaker of the House Rusty Bowers over his decision to testify in the January 6 select house committee last July. An Arizona court rejected Kari Lake‘s attempt to re-litigate her Arizona gubernatorial loss. Lake’s ten lawsuits alleged she lost because of election official malfeasance. The court decision upholds that Lake lost the November election to Kate Hobbs by more than 17,000 votes. Lake will appeal the decision – but her legal challenges appear to be coming to an end. Lake was suing Maricopa County elections officials to overturn the election. “The margin of victory as reported by the official canvass is 17,117 votes – beyond the scope of a statutorily required recount,” Maricopa County Superior Cou...

After losing by more than 17,000 votes to Katie Hobbs, Kari Lake has doubled down on her identity as a “proud election-denying deplorable.” Lake called for the imprisonment of election officials in Maricopa County. In a speech to a large crowd of young conservatives at Turning Point USA’s America Fest in Phoenix, Lake talked about her election loss. She continued to spread lies about a greater plot to steal the election from her – making a thinly veiled threat of violence against Arizona State government employees. “They have built a house of cards here in Maricopa County,” she said. “I think ...

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Arizona) announced on Friday that she will leave the Democratic party and register as an independent. “Registering as an independent and showing up to work with the title of independent is a reflection of who I’ve always been…. Nothing’s going to change for me,” Sinema said while announcing her decision. “I’m going to still come to work and hopefully serve on the same committees I’ve been serving on and continue to work well with my colleagues at both political parties.” The move is not expected to affect the Democrats’ narrow 51-49 majority as Sinema said she plans to kee...
