Miami added a big-time pick up out of the transfer portal this offseason in former Washington State star Cam Ward. The talented signal caller considered entering his name into the 2024 NFL Draft, before opting to play for the Hurricanes this fall instead. On3’s Andy Staples recently spoke with Clark Brooks about Ward and his potential for the 2024 season. Brooks believes Ward has the chance to have a special year. “They’re getting arguably one of the best down-field throwers in the class,” Brooks said. “Since his days at Incarnate Word you have not had to worry about his live arm. He just impr...

Mario Cristobal believes Cam Ward can be what Miami needs at quarterback to get the program going in the right direction. The Hurricanes brought in Ward as a transfer from Washington State this offseason after struggling at the position in 2023. Miami finished just 7-6 in its second season under Cristobal and benched starting QB Tyler Van Dyke in the middle of the season amid problems with turnovers. With Van Dyke having transferred this offseason, the hope is that Ward can step in and lead to better results. So far, Cristobal has seen nothing but good things from Ward on the practice field. H...

Miami Athletics Director Dan Radakovich has been around many excellent quarterbacks dating back to his time at Clemson. He believes Washington State transfer Cam Ward has a chance to be the next one. Radakovich recently spoke with Kelly Gramlich and Eric Mac Lain about Cam Ward and why he believes the senior is a special player, both on and off the field. “I had the chance this weekend to meet Cam’s first high school coach at a summit that I was at this weekend, and he just talked glowingly about Cam and how he attacks the game and how he attacks the intricacies of the game,” Radakovich said. ...

At one point this offseason, Cam Ward was atop Florida State‘s transfer portal wishlist. After declaring for the draft and mulling his other offers (which was eventually Miami), DJ Uiagalelei took a visit to Tallahassee — without an offer — and made the move before Ward could finish his excursion. Warchant.com’s Ira Schoffel joined On3’s Andy Staples to discuss Uiagalelei’s transfer and how he ultimately become the new quarterback at Florida State before Ward made his final decision. “What’s interesting about that to me, and this isn’t a slight on Cam Ward, I think he’s fantastic football play...

If you watched Cam Ward this spring … or in Miami’s Spring Game … there’s no doubting his enormous ceiling and how much better he can make this Hurricanes offense. Now the big question is just how much better. For perspective, Miami averaged 31.5 points per game last year; there were seven teams in the country that averaged 39 or more points. Oh, and the last time UM averaged 39+ points per game was all the way back in 2002 when the Canes were fourth in the nation with 40.5 points per game (Miami also averaged 43.2 points in 2001 and 42.6 in 2000). A firm believer in Ward and this Miami offens...

It’s been a tumultuous offseason for Cam Ward. The former Washington State quarterback initially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft on Jan. 1. However, less than two weeks later, Ward decided to transfer to Miami. On Thursday, Ward pulled back the curtain on his massive decision. “That was probably one of the hardest decisions I had to make, from thinking I was ready for the NFL Draft to knowing I’m still not done yet in college,” Ward said. “There’s still food left on the table for myself, for this team. “The guys we return from last season — majority of O-line, receiving corps back, key pieces ...

Following the 2023 season, the Miami Hurricanes decided to go looking for a new quarterback in the Transfer Portal. Eventually, they landed on Cam Ward, but it was a journey to get to that point. With Spring practice in full swing, head coach Mario Cristobal looked back on that recruiting process and explained why he was willing to put in the effort for Cam Ward. “Like a lot of the recruiting battles we have,” Mario Cristobal said. “It’s always a marathon when you’re getting after it and if you truly believe in it you’ll stay with it and you’ll stick to the truth. You just recruit guys with ge...
